| Three Different Types of Structural
Building Foundations? |
| By Greg Vanden Berge |

Here are three different types of home foundation systems. I really
don't prefer one of these types of building foundations over another
one. Each one has its benefits and drawbacks, but if they are built
correctly, can last for many years.
Let's examine the different types of structural building foundations
that are commonly used in the United States.
1. Raised Floor Type Building Foundation
This type of structural building foundation uses footings and stem walls
to create the homes foundation. Raised building foundations usually have
wood framed floors and are elevated high enough to provide access under
the home. |

2. Concrete Floor Slab And Footings Building
Foundation
This is the most common type of building foundation used today in the
United States if your house doesn't have a basement. This type of
foundation is created by using footings that directly tie to a concrete
floor slab. The entire building foundation, including the floor will be
solid concrete.
3. Basement Building Foundation
Basement building foundations can be built a few different ways, but
most of them will have solid concrete floor. The basement walls can be
constructed out of concrete block or solid concrete. Basement
foundations are extremely popular in the Midwest and East Coast of the
United States.
