| How Do I Mix Concrete in an Electric
Cement Mixer? |

There are a couple of different ways that you can mix concrete, but
either way be prepared for a workout. If you're using a cement mixer,
it's still going to be a lot work to load the concrete mixture into and
out of the cement mixer and then wheelbarrow it to wherever it needs to
be placed.
Position the electric cement mixer on level ground near the building
materials that you're going to use. Make sure that you have a garden
hose with a spray nozzle on it within reaching distance of the mixer.
You should always use a heavy duty electrical extension cord to
eliminate the possibility of burning up the electric cement mixers
motor.
After you have set the cement mixer up, you’re ready to mix your
concrete. I like to start with the cement mixer off, so that I can start
to load some of my concrete mix and water safely, without it moving or
rotating. |

I usually put between one third and one half of my total concrete
mixture into the cement mixer, with a little bit of water before turning
it on. Right after I turn the electric cement mixer on, I start to spray
water into the center of the mixer, being cautious not to add too much
water at this point.
While the cement mixer is rotating, I continue to add the rest of the
concrete mix, without overfilling the electric mixer. Let the concrete
mix for a few minutes before removing it from the mixer, just to make
sure that it's mixed well.
I can't tell you exactly how much water to use, but the concrete
mixtures should look like a thick paste.
After you're done for the day, make sure that you clean the cement mixer
out thoroughly to prevent any extra cement mixture buildup on the
interior or exterior of the cement mixer. |
